Advanced CT Imaging, Radiomics, and Artificial Intelligence to Evaluate Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors’ Effects on Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma

چکیده

Advances in the knowledge of renal cell carcinoma (RCC)’s oncogenesis have led to development new therapeutic approaches, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), which improved clinical outcomes metastatic RCC (mRCC) patients. Our literature search a series studies that were divided into four subcategories: RECIST criteria, radiomics and artificial intelligence, atypical response patterns, body composition. These provide novel promising data aimed at improving patient management outcomes, further strengthening concept precision medicine. Radiomics intelligence allow us obtain—in non-invasive fashion—a multitude cannot be detected with naked eye, offering potential advantages might help predict treatments possibly improve patients’ through personalized approach. The purpose this review is describe available evidence on role computed tomography (CT) evaluating predicting ICIs’ effects mRCC patients by applying intelligence.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors in renal cell carcinoma

The immune system has long been known to play a critical role in the body's defence against cancer, and there have been multiple attempts to harness it for therapeutic gain. Renal cancer was, historically, one of a small number of tumour types where immune manipulation had been shown to be effective. The current generation of immune checkpoint inhibitors are rapidly entering into routine clinic...

Renal Toxicity Related to Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors

As early as the 18th century, physicians noticed that some cancer patients went into remission after developing fevers from infections. This led to the idea that the immune system, which protects from infection, might also fight cancer. What is now known as “immunotherapy” is a treatment that targets the immune system to recognize and eradicate cancer cells. Modern immunotherapy has focused on ...

Adverse Renal Effects of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors: A Narrative Review.

BACKGROUND Cancer immunotherapy, such as anti-cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4) and anti-programmed death 1 (PD-1), has revolutionized the treatment of malignancies by engaging the patient's own immune system against the tumor rather than targeting the cancer directly. These therapies have demonstrated a significant benefit in the treatment of melanomas and other cancers. S...

Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma to the Humerus Bone: A Report of Two Cases

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is an aggressive malignancy which can metastasize to the bone. Long bones or the small bones of the limbs could be rarely the destinations for metastatic RCCs. We report two cases of metastatic RCC to the humerus bone with the initial presentation of pathological fracture. The pathologists must be aware of metastatic RCC to the arm and consider it in the differential ...

Imaging in metastatic renal cell carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE Metastatic disease occurs in a significant percentage of patients with renal cell carcinoma. Recent advances in systemic therapies for metastatic renal cell carcinoma are likely to have a significant effect on the way patients with advanced disease are imaged. These new therapies have shown a significant increase in progression-free survival. CONCLUSION Imaging is likely to play an ...
